Formerly the Zuiderzee, this is now the reclaimed Northeast Polder. Stage 3 of the Pioneer trail, which runs from Steenwijk to Muiden, starts in Vollenhove, in the province of Overijssel. After the dike along the canal, you walk through the Waterloopbos, special for its scale models of global waterworks, then through the Voorsterbos and past Kraggenburg. This stage ends at Netl Park, where you can eat something at the restaurant or even spend the night at Camping Kallumaan. But you can also just catch the bus at the stop nearby, to return to Vollenhove.
