Let yourself be guided through the Flevopolder with the Flevoland Tulip Route (dates to follow) and through the Noordoostpolder with the Noordoostpolder Tulip Festival (17 April to 3 May 2026) and admire the fields full of tulips for yourself! Spring! Time to admire the tulips in Flevoland. Various routes take you past the most beautiful spots, whether you're travelling by car, bicycle or on foot. All kinds of fun activities are also organised at various tulip locations. Most tulip fields are located in the Noordoostpolder, around Almere, Dronten, Lelystad and Zeewolde. The start and end dates of the Flevoland Tulip Route and the Noordoostpolder Tulip Festival depend on weather conditions and therefore vary each year, as do the routes. On this page, you will find information about those for 2026.
The Flevoland Tulip Route guarantees beautiful cycling and driving routes past numerous tulip fields in Eastern and Southern Flevoland. Discover the colourful countryside of the municipalities of Almere, Dronten, Lelystad and Zeewolde with the car, cycling and walking routes of Tulip Route Flevoland. The car route is not signposted, but after you have purchased a ticket, you will receive the route digitally. The cycling route is free and also available on the Tulip Route Flevoland website. In addition to enjoying the colourful tulip fields along the way, you can also visit various (agricultural) businesses along the route, as they open their doors to the public especially during tulip season. This is a unique opportunity to take a look inside places you don't usually get to see.

Every spring, the Noordoostpolder is dominated by the Tulip Festival. There is plenty to do during the festival. View the colourful tulip fields by bike or car and be sure to download the app to get information about tulip cultivation, the history of the Noordoostpolder and other agricultural activities in this area. Children can keep themselves entertained with a maze, bouncy castle, quiz and puzzle, while adventurers can take to the skies with a balloon or helicopter flight over the tulip fields. A colourful view is guaranteed! Every day of the Tulip Festival, you can enjoy a snack and a drink at various locations. There is a food truck at Renne Streekproducten in Nagele and a Pop-up Grand Tulip Café at the Tulip Experience Field in Creil. There are also catering facilities at the tulip festival locations in Marknesse and Emmeloord, so you can take a break there too.

When driving or cycling along a tulip route, it is tempting to walk into the fields to see the tulips up close and take photographs. Please refrain from doing so. This tramples the tulips and can spread plant diseases. Besides, would you like it if people were constantly standing in your back garden? But don't worry: there are two locations where you are actually encouraged to walk among the tulips and photograph them up close to your heart's content. In Espel, you will find the Tulip Variety Garden, where you can see hundreds of varieties of tulips in all colours and shapes. An information board tells you all about this special collection, and at weekends there is even a guide to show you around. A little further on, in Creil, you are welcome to visit the Tulip Experience Field. Here you can see hundreds of different varieties of tulips up close or from above as you walk across the footbridge. Every year, the most beautiful routes are mapped out so that tulip lovers can easily follow them and enjoy the colourful splendour to the fullest. In the Noordoostpolder, the Noordoostpolder Tulip Festival signs the routes. They also organise all kinds of fun activities, including children's activities with Bollie the Bear. In the rest of Flevoland, the routes are mapped out (but not signposted) and fun activities are organised by the Flevoland Tulip Route Foundation.
During your tour of the tulip fields, you are not allowed to enter the fields. These fields belong to the growers, who earn their living from them. So stay on the verge and do not stand or walk among the tulips. In the various tulip picking gardens in Flevoland, however, this is allowed. Here you can walk among the tulips to your heart's content and take photos up close. And, as the name suggests, you can also pick your own tulips here.
In addition to driving along the tulip route and admiring and photographing our tulips, there are many other fun things to do in Flevoland during tulip season. Both the Flevoland Tulip Route and the Noordoostpolder Tulip Festival organise all kinds of fun activities for young and old.
