Can you imagine? In the Middle Ages, before the reclamation of the Noordoostpolder, the old harbour of Kuinre was a thriving trading port. Discover it during a walk through the Kuinderbos! Skippers came from all over the Zuiderzee to trade and take cargo.
Silting up of the old harbour made it inaccessible to ships, and the reclamation of the Noordoostpolder in 1942 put a definitive end to Kuinre as a port. The old harbour, which lost its function, has been restored to its former state, so you can imagine yourself back in the old days when you visit. The area is popular with grass snakes and dragonflies.
It's a great place to explore during a walk in the Kuinderbos!
