A dike-side villa in Almere 6 metres in width and 16 metres deep, with a blocky, vertical form. The ground floor is partly embedded in an artificial embankment which is an elongation of the dyke that borders the garden. Three sides of the house have large windows and are clad with laths of red cedar in a strict rhythm. The fourth wall, which faces nearby housing, is largely windowless and finished in grey stucco. The monumental basic volume is an outcome of the wish for a splendid view.
