Cyclists beware!
Often the pros ride on (car) roads where you are not allowed as a regular cyclist. But in Flevoland, things are slightly different! In 2022, Lelystad hosted the Simac Ladies Tour. The ladies rode 2.5 rounds of 60 km during the first stage. And we wouldn't call ourselves a cycling province if you couldn't also cycle a large part of that route yourself! About half of the distance you ride on exactly the same roads as Lorena Wiebes and Chantal van den Broek-Blaak did on Tuesday 30 August 2022. It's a real polder round: little shelter, giving the wind free rein. During the Simac Ladies Tour, the wind therefore had a great influence on the race. On essential parts of the course, the ladies faced a strong force 4 wind from the side. Then every cycling fan knows what time it is: WAY! Especially on the cobbles of the Knardijk it was a struggle! The peloton broke into little pieces. Want to join in? A Flevoland cyclist recorded the battle, fun to watch back. A cycle path runs alongside the Knardijk. Do you opt for smooth concrete? Or do you pound the bricks like the real pros!
