• Laakse Slenk


    Flevoland hasn't always been sea. In the Middle Ages the area was inhabited and heavily loaded trading vessels once plied the network of channels. One of these old waterways, the Laakse Slenk, was dug out again in 2012. The image of the dragonfly has been selected to symbolise the Laakse Slenk’s re-emerging nature. Wherever dragonflies thrive, nature is doing fine.

    The beating heart of numerous water sports activities and a beautiful place to start or end your route. On the terrace you can sit and observe the many water sports activities or simply take in the superb views out over the water. The Marina also boasts some excellent restaurants and bars.

  • Bunschoten-Spakenburg

  • Arkemheen steam pumping station


    The 'Hertog Reijnhout' windmill was built in 1863 to help drain the former Zuiderzee. In 1883 it was replaced by a steam pumping station and this in turn was replaced by an electric pumping station in 1983. The steam pumping station was restored in 1985 and is still occasionally fired up.

  • Hulkesteinse woods walking trail


    There is a special footpath through the marshy and unique woodlands of the Nijkerkernauw, near the De Wielewaal Estate. The duckboards mean the footpath is also passable in wet conditions. The woods are a haven for rare birds and vegetation.
