• Stille Kern and Tuurtoren

In the middle of the Horsterwold woodlands lies an extensive, open and green valley: the silent core. The footpath in this strikingly beautiful nature reserve leads to an observation tower (Tuurtoren) and a bird hide located on the other side of the lake.

  • Galilea Lake

The Horsterwold woods is one of the largest continuous deciduous woodlands in Europe. Its beauty at various locations is quite exceptional. The lake has been designed and constructed to offset the straight stretches and canals in the polder and with any luck you might even spot a beaver here!

  • Harderbos and Hans & Grietje

Many have fond memories of the old fairy tale about Hansel and Gretel. In Zeewolde you can relive the story at the ‘Hans en Grietje’ pancake garden and playground located at Sternweg 2a. The Hoge Knarsluis route passes very close by.

  • Sea Level

Flevoland is recognised for its Land Art. Zeewolde boasts a fascinating example: Sea Level. This art piece consists of a long wall twice 200 meters. The top of the wall graphically indicates where the level of the water would be if the dykes were removed.

  • Hidden beaches

Both the Horsterwold route and the ‘Oud- en Nieuwland’ route guide you past the Bordering Lakes (Randmeren), where you'll can spot small beaches hidden away among the reeds. Near Zeewolde lies the Woldstrand and the ring-shaped 'Atoll' island which offers a deepened bathing area for a refreshing dive.
