New nature - Marker Wadden

Now open to the public

Have you ever visited Marker Wadden? From September 2018 you can now visit the first island and discover its delightful beauty for yourself. This is a wonderful place to chase the cobwebs from your head. The island boasts an attractive beach and a natural harbour. Do a bit of twitching from the bird hides. Follow the walkers’ trails. No ferry service currently exists, however you can reach Marker Wadden with your own or a chartered boat.

new art - in the Waterloopbos woods

Deltawerk//

Deltawerk// is a remarkable not to mention colossal artwork. The piece is located in the Waterloopbos woods in Marknesse. The Waterloopbos is the location of a collection of large format scale models of waterworks now installed worldwide. The engineering models were constructed here during the second half of the last century as testing mock-ups. One of these waterworks was the Delta Flume; an enormous basin for testing how the (then) proposed Delta Works would react to specific natural forces. Artists Ronald Rietveld and Erick de Lyon were invited to turn the Delta Flume into an enormous piece of land art extending to more than 200 metres.
