Rembrandt’s The Standard Bearer, on tour

Do you like classical works of art? Or do you prefer the more modern stuff? Do you ever visit museums? And you’re not afraid to say so? What do you think of Rembrandt’s The Standard Bearer? What do you see? Do you see a unique painting that you’d love to see ‘live’, or does it just look like some old-fashioned advertisement poster to you? Want to see more? Want to see less? Do you like classical works of art? Or do you prefer the more modern stuff? Do you ever visit museums? And you’re not afraid to say so? What do you think of Rembrandt’s The Standard Bearer? What do you see? Do you see a unique painting that you’d love to see ‘live’, or does it just look like some old-fashioned advertisement poster to you? Want to see more? Want to see less? Can you even see The Standard Bearer there? Can you see the colours, the structure of it all? Do you perhaps use other senses to enjoy it?

With the unique collaboration of twelve different museums, the Rembrandt Association and the Dutch Lottery (Vriendenloterij), Rembrandt’s The Standard Bearer is touring all twelve provinces of the Netherlands over one whole year. Each museum offers a unique approach to viewing this painting. From Friday the 2nd of September 2022, it’s Flevoland’s turn and the painting can be viewed for one whole month at Theater de Kunstlinie. We’re happy to seize this opportunity to start up conversations on it, because...

What Do You See?

To learn just exactly what you see and I don’t.
To discuss just what we’d like to see more of and where less of.
To philosophise on the accessibility of art and culture in general and the importance of it all.
